Give yourself some time to get good and slobbery.

So picture this.

I am at the beach. It’s a cold crisp day. There are white caps on Long Island Sound.  Its windy and brisk.  Clearly there is a front coming in.

A big beautiful white-faced Golden Retriever charges up to me for an obligatory love-fest of sand, salt and slobber.  After he is finished and leaves me with that sticky, hairy feeling,  he trots down the beach spreading his dog-love to anyone who looks remotely interesting.

This is a dog in heaven.

He gleefully follows a tennis ball into the freezing water, splashing and pouncing happily on the bobbing ball.  With a bounding leap, he charges up the beach and proceeds to roll and wiggle and squirm every inch of his body into the sand. making sure that it is firmly engrained into the very roots of his coat.

He’s not worried about what people think.

He’s not worried about how it affects his look.

He is just in doggie heaven.

When its time to leave, his owner clips on his leash signaling that its time to go.

The dog doesn’t move.

He isn’t finished.

He has more to do.

Give yourself some time to roll in the sand and get good and slobbery this holiday season, regardless of your schedule.

Leave room for retwinklizing…..
